Pink, Your underwear is pink
So last night a myriad of things went wrong that I won't even go into detail about here cause it will only dredge up negativity, which I have no interest in doing, usually.

SO, I saw a trailer for the new Superman movie last weekend and figured I should watch the original before I see the new one. The only copy my video store had was on VHS *shudder* but with a little help from the auto-tracking function, it was watchable. The dialogue....oy. Still, I didn't know Chris Reeve filled out the Sup costume so well. He also had a really good voice. Gene Hackman was crazy as Luthor, I can't wait to see what Kevin Spacey does with that role.

Now, I am much more of a fan of Batman than Superman, but I'll give props to the Man of Steel because what he does, he does well. A friend of mine and I had the whole Bat vs Sup conversation more than once. Batman was like everyone's hero because he was a regular man that chose to become something more. He was human and you could relate to him. Sup was 'born' - on Earth - as already something more. I suppose you could argue that Sup had to choose to use his power for good rather than for evil, but he never had that all-appealing edginess that the Dark Knight did.

I think a re-telling of Superman, an edgier Superman, would be ...... very interesting. Not an evil Sup, but a darker one. Cut out some of the "Boy Scout" as Gigi would say and put in more ..... reality.

I never really got into Spiderman either for that reason. I mean some of the stuff he does is really cool, but ........ he is like the Backstreet Boy of Superhero's. Although the new film is going to have Spidey in his black suit so maybe my opinion will change.

Okay, I'm done for the moment, back to your regularly scheduled web surfing.

Yeah, Batman pretty much rules. Yes, he's an ordinary dude and he's most likely to use any resource or trick to use to his advantage. Superman is pretty much the kid who had everything come easy to him in high school. Reeves did do Superman justice.

I agree with most points, except Sup had to hide his abilities in high school so as to appear normal. I think he got the short end of the stick growing up because "be all that you can be" really couldn't apply to him. But otherwise, yeah, I agree.

And that's where David Carradine's speech in Kill Bill vol 2 come into play, he's protraying what he views normal human beings. While Batman has a playboy alter ego. Batman rules.

Say what you will about the old web-head, I think that Spiderman 2 was the best superhero film ever made. Not because of the fights or the villans, but because of the humanity of it. Two things caught my interest specifically.

*** spiderman 2 spoilers, don't read below if you haven't seen the film!!! ***

One is where Aunt May is getting evicted. She's stressed and she's hurt, but she's got that positive nature at her core that can't be snuffed. I like how the filmmakers were willing to put that in when they could have put more flash and special effects instead. The second scene that was the real clincher for me was when Spidey stops the tram on the tracks, literally giving everything he's got to do so. As the train comes to a stop and he passes out from exaustion and pain, hands reach to catch him and carry him to safety. Normal folk doing this in honor and awe of someone willing to give his all for them... Such a great scene.
